Lakewood Swim Team Code of Conduct
Swimmers and their parents must review and acknowledge the Code of Conduct during registration. Registration cannot be completed without this acknowledgment, ensuring every participant aligns with the team’s expectations and values.
Swimmer Expectations
- Positive: I will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times, be encouraging towards others, whether a teammate or competitor and be positive while developing myself and others.
- Respect: I will listen and speak with respect to fellow athletes, parents, officials, and coaches.

Punctual: I will be on time to all
practices and meets, understanding that being late impacts my development and
practice time.
- Swimmers are allowed to attend ONE practice per day
- Swimmers must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of a swim meet. (from arrival/check-in to completion of meet/swims)
- Responsible: I will be responsible for my items and my behavior. I know that being part of a team requires my efforts.
- Helpful: I will offer my assistance and service to my teammates and coaches during meets and practices, when needed.
- Follow the rules: I will not engage in any threatening, intimidating, disruptive or dangerous behavior. I will follow all pool rules.
Team Code of Conduct
- All swimmers must maintain satisfactory behavior at all times.
- The Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, and the Team
Presidents will handle the primary responsibility for addressing and resolving
the Code of Conduct violations. Otherwise, the following guidelines will apply:
- 1st Offense-Warning along with parent contact
- 2nd Offense-Removal from practice or swim meet
- 3rd Offense-Swimmer is removed from the program
Coaches have the right to remove a swimmer from any swim activity at their discretion.
Discipline: Coaches/President have the primary responsibility to communicate inappropriate conduct with swimmers and parents. Coaches/President will use their reasonable discretion when imposing appropriate punishment, and that any disciplinary action will take into account (1) the nature and severity of the conduct, (2) any prior disciplinary actions regarding the swimmer, (3) the adverse effect of the behavior on other swimmers, and (4) the application of the Code of Conduct. Examples of disciplinary action include verbal warning, removal from practice, notification to the swimmer and their parents, suspension from some or all program activities, up to and including expulsion from the program, and not eligible for our refund or credit policy. Coaches/President will take any immediate action that is both necessary and appropriate under the circumstances to ensure the safety of all swimmers.
*If we must remove your child from the program due to disciplinary reasons, you will not receive a refund or a credit.
